The claim: Juan Ciscomani claims that JoAnna Mendoza does not support new tax cuts for working families. 

FACT CHECK: FALSE

THE FACTS:

Mendoza has a proven record of calling for tax cuts for hardworking families — not billionaires and corporations — and for a modernized tax code where the wealthiest pay their fair share.

Mendoza’s statement in 2020: “We know that there have been enormous tax breaks and tax cuts for wealthy folks and for corporations, so moving forward there should be no new tax cuts, no new tax credits, or sales tax exemptions.”

Mendoza also stated: “Yes, I completely agree that we need to raise new revenue and avoid any cuts to public education, healthcare, and other essential services for our communities… We lose tens of millions of dollars in revenue each year because of exemptions for special interests and corporations.”
